A random answer for a question or a game

Use this yes or no wheel for a quick choice, a game or a round of questions. Start with Yes and No, add Maybe or replace two or three answer labels. Each round keeps its question, rules and results together.

How to use the Yes or No wheel

  1. Start with Yes and No

The default wheel has six Yes and No sets, giving twelve equal slices. You can spin straight away. Enter an optional question above the scores, then press Enter or leave the field to save it.

  2. Spin for an answer

Select Spin in the center of the wheel, or focus it and press Enter or Space. The pointer marks the chosen slice, and the result gives the full answer. Close dismisses the result popup while keeping the pick.

  3. Make another pick

In Single picks, spin again to keep counting answers. Choose a best-of rule for a scored round. Results keeps recent picks. New round restarts the same question and rules at zero.

New wheels start with six repeated Yes and No sets.

Choose answers for your yes or no spinner

The question sits above the answer counts. Setup holds the answer choices, Alternative answers, Sets and Play. The round controls stay separate from the score.

Add an optional question

Enter up to 200 characters in Your question (optional). Press Enter or leave the field to save the change in this browser. For example, ask Should we play another game? Leave it blank when no question is needed.

The question identifies the round. It does not affect the draw or ask a service to evaluate what you wrote.

Example question. Press Enter or leave the field to save a valid edit.

Choose Yes, No or Maybe

Choose Yes or No for two answers, or Yes, No or Maybe for three. New default setups have equal chances. Weighting can change those percentages.

An equal setup stays equal when you switch answer count. With unequal percentages, the first answer keeps its chance and the remainder is balanced across the other enabled answers. Changing the answer count after a pick starts a new round and keeps the old one in Previous rounds.

Example three-answer setup with Maybe enabled.
Example setup. Maybe adds a third answer. New equal setups give each answer one chance in three.

Use Alternative answers

Turn on Alternative answers to replace the wording for Yes and No. With Maybe enabled, Answer to replace Maybe appears too. You can use two labels such as Tea and Coffee, or three such as Go, Stay and Not sure.

Enter up to 80 characters per answer. Each enabled answer needs different text. Spaces at the ends and capitalization do not make two answers different. Press Enter or leave a field to save it.

The first two answers score points in a best-of round. The Maybe position stays neutral even when renamed. Wording changes after picks keep the old labels with the old round.

Example three-answer setup. Alternative answers lets you replace all three labels.
Example Alternative answers edit with duplicate labels and a validation error.
Example invalid edit. Capitalization does not make two answer labels different. The last valid wheel stays in place.

Change the number of repeated sets

Sets accepts a whole number from 1 through 100. Each set repeats the enabled answers. At default nonzero chances, six sets gives twelve binary slices or eighteen with Maybe. One hundred sets gives up to 200 or 300 visible slices. An answer at 0% has no slice.

Changing Sets keeps each answer's overall chance and the current question, score and results. At high counts, labels that cannot fit are left off the wheel. Full answers remain in Weighting, the result, score and history.

Example 100-set three-answer wheel with narrow slices.
Example 100-set wheel. Full answer labels remain in Weighting, the result and history when they cannot fit on the wheel.

Save edits and keep earlier rounds

Question, alternative-answer, Sets and percentage fields save valid edits when you press Enter or leave the field. Answer choices, checkboxes and Play update immediately. The working setup stays in this browser. An existing named saved copy changes only when you explicitly Save it again.

After a pick, changing the question, enabled answers, replacement wording, play rule or percentages moves the original nonempty round to Previous rounds and starts at zero. A brief notice confirms the new round. Undo restores the earlier setup and round.

An invalid field shows a local error and keeps the last valid wheel. Fix it before spinning, saving or exporting. Sets alone keeps the round; appearance edits keep the score and results too.

How the random yes or no generator picks an answer

With default or equal settings, Yes and No each have a 50% chance. Adding Maybe to an equal setup gives each answer one chance in three. Alternative wording alone does not change those chances. Custom percentages can be different.

Weighting shows the current percentages. Slice sizes, pointer feedback and the result follow the same probabilities. Repeated sets, the question, colors, pictures, view and spin duration do not change them.

Set percentages in Weighting

Select Weighting in the quick settings row, or expand it in Setup. Enter a percentage or use the slider beside an answer. Finish a typed edit with Enter or by leaving the field. A slider adjustment saves when you finish the gesture.

With two answers, changing either one gives the other the remainder. With Maybe enabled, changing the first answer splits the rest equally. Changing No or Maybe keeps the displayed first-answer percentage and adjusts the other secondary answer.

To get 70% Yes, 10% No and 20% Maybe, enable Maybe, set Yes to 70 and finish that edit, then set No to 10. Maybe becomes 20. Alternative labels follow the same first, second and third positions.

Equal chances restores an equal split across enabled answers. Changing the probabilities after recorded picks keeps the original round and starts a new one. Undo restores its prior percentages and results.

Example percentages. Set Yes to 70, then No to 10. Maybe becomes 20.
Example binary Weighting controls with complementary Yes and No percentages.
Example two-answer setup. Changing one percentage sets the other to the remainder.

Handle zero chances and percentage errors

Enter a percentage from 0 to 100 with up to two decimal places. An answer at 0% stays in the controls and score but has no selectable slice. At 100%, that answer is the only possible pick.

Equal thirds display as 33.33%. Older saved ratios and derived remainders may be rounded or show three decimals. Leaving them untouched preserves the stored odds.

In three-answer mode, a secondary answer cannot exceed the remainder after the displayed first answer. Its error gives an allowed maximum or asks you to change the first answer. If an older precision combination asks for that first answer to use at most two decimals, enter a new first percentage before adjusting the others. Equal chances also clears a percentage error and resets the split.

Example Weighting edit with an error for a secondary percentage above the available remainder.
Example invalid edit. No and Maybe must fit within the remainder after the displayed Yes percentage.

Understand repeats and uneven runs

The picker uses your browser's cryptographic random number source. It chooses an actual slice before the animation starts. The pointer, result and score follow that chosen slice.

A 50% chance does not guarantee alternating answers or an even split in a short run. Yes can appear several times in a row. Earlier picks do not make No due next. Changing to a best-of rule counts the same independent picks toward a target.

Use the answer for a small choice

A random answer can choose the next game or settle a playful question. It does not understand your question or predict what will happen. If you need to compare the reasons for a decision, do that before deciding whether a random choice is suitable.

Play a best-of-3, 5 or 7 round

Choose Play in Setup for Single picks or Best of 3, 5 or 7. The choice saves immediately. A compact target remains with the score during a series.

Choose the winning score

Single picks keeps running answer counts. Best of 3 ends when either scoring answer reaches 2. Best of 5 needs 3, and Best of 7 needs 4. Alternative labels use those same targets.

The score belongs to this question, answer wording and chance setup. Changing Play after a pick retains that round and starts the newly selected rule at zero.

Keep Maybe without giving it a point

In three-answer mode, Maybe appears in history and has its own count, but adds no point to either scoring answer. This remains true when Answer to replace Maybe gives it another name.

A series can take more than three, five or seven spins when the neutral answer appears. Two picks of the first scoring answer win Best of 3, for example, even if a neutral pick happened between them.

Example best-of round with a Maybe result and unchanged points for the first two answers.
Example round. A Maybe pick is recorded without a point to either side.

Continue after a round finishes

The wheel stops when a scoring answer reaches the target. Select New round to play the same question and rules again. The finished round moves to Previous rounds.

Undo removes the deciding action and restores the prior state. Undoing the deciding pick reopens the series so you can continue it.

Example completed best-of round showing the winning score and stopped round.
Example completed round. Reaching the target stops further picks until New round or Undo.

Keep questions with their Yes or No results

Each round keeps its question, answer labels, percentages, play rule and counts together. Results lists current picks newest first. A saved setup edit does not relabel an earlier round.

Read and close the answer

The answer popup shows the full chosen answer and the round status. Close dismisses it while keeping the pick. Spin again makes another pick when the round is open.

With Show result popup off, read the answer beneath the wheel. Results keeps the pick either way. A completed best-of round needs New round or Undo before another spin.

Example result popup showing the full answer with Spin again and Close.
Example result. Close keeps the pick. Spin again makes another pick while the round is open.

Read the current results

Select Results to see the current round's picks, newest first. A round holds up to 2,000 picks and displays its latest 100. The score retains full counts. The question field above the score identifies the current round and can be left blank.

Look back at previous rounds

Expand Previous rounds to inspect a retained round. Each one keeps its own question, answer wording, chances, play rule, full counts and latest 100 results.

The wheel keeps up to ten previous rounds. Starting another nonempty round beyond that limit removes the oldest archive. Keep a downloaded backup if you need to retain a particular record.

Example expanded previous round with its original question, rules, scores and results.
Example previous round. Its original question and rules stay with its results.

Start the same question again

New round retains a nonempty round and starts the same question, answers, percentages and play rule again at zero. An empty round adds no archive.

To ask something different, edit the question above the score and press Enter or leave the field. If the current round has picks, it moves to Previous rounds automatically. The notice confirms the change and Undo can restore it.

Restore the previous action

Undo reverses recent picks and committed changes, restoring the prior setup, score and previous-round records. It can restore an oldest archive removed by the ten-round limit. If there is an unfinished edit, Undo first discards that draft.

Undoing the deciding pick reopens a completed series. Saved and downloaded wheel records do not include Undo history.

Recognize results from an older saved wheel

Older saved results without a question snapshot are marked Earlier results. Their question and rules were not recorded, so do not treat them as a verified answer to the current question.

Older weighted setups keep their original probabilities while untouched, even if a displayed percentage is rounded. A new percentage edit uses the current displayed first-answer value where that rule applies, while the archived round keeps its original odds.

Customize the Yes or No wheel

Customize changes the appearance, sound and motion. These settings leave the answer chances unchanged.

Find the wheel controls

Colors opens the answer-color panel. Weighting opens the percentage fields in Setup. More customization opens the full settings for themes, pictures, sound and motion. The header's Customize button opens that same full interface.

On wide screens, New, Open, Save and Share link are in the header. On narrow screens, open More for those actions. Download and Full screen sit at the end. Other tools opens the other wheels.

Choose a theme

In More customization, choose Bright, Ocean or Sunset under Appearance. Choosing a theme clears custom answer colors and returns every outcome to that palette. Bright uses green for Yes, pink for No and yellow for Maybe.

Theme changes preserve chances and the round. A whole wheel image covers segment colors until removed. The Customize heading and close X stay available while scrolling. Escape or clicking outside closes ordinary settings; valid changes are already saved.

Add or remove a picture

Center image places a picture on Spin. Whole wheel image puts one picture behind the labels and slice boundaries. Use the corresponding Remove control to clear just that image.

Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP up to 2 MB and 8,192 pixels per side. Images are cropped to a square from the center. Keep the important part near the middle. If an image is rejected, check its format, size and dimensions, or try another file. Uploads also need browser storage.

Reset appearance returns to Bright and clears custom answer colors and pictures. The question, percentages, score and results stay intact. Uploaded pictures are included in a downloaded wheel file.

Set ticking, result sounds and messages

Open More customization for sound settings. An ordinary Spin or Preview gesture starts enabled audio. Header Mute gives a silent wheel without discarding the selected sounds. Loading the page does not start audio.

Control sound and volume

Enable sound and Volume control all wheel audio. Sound starts enabled on new wheels, with Volume at 40%. The volume range is 0 to 100%. Header Mute keeps your sound choices. Unmute restores 40% if the volume was zero.

If you hear nothing, enable sound, raise the volume and choose a sound other than Off. Check your browser sound settings and device output, or try another file. Start from a Spin or Preview gesture.

Adjust spin time and automatic play

Open More customization for motion and results settings. They change the presentation while leaving the answer probabilities unchanged.

Set duration and speed

Duration sets the total time from 1 to 60 seconds. Slow, Normal and Fast change the turning pace. New wheels use 10 seconds and Normal. A longer duration keeps that pace for longer before slowing to a stop.

Control motion between picks

Slow rotation when ready turns the idle wheel silently without making a pick. It starts on for new wheels and stops when you spin.

Your device or browser's reduced-motion preference skips spin animation, idle rotation, spinning sounds and celebrations. It does not mute winner audio. Use Mute or Enable sound when you also want that sound off.

Run or stop automatic spins

Set a pause of 2 to 60 seconds in More customization, then select Start auto-spin in the round controls. The default pause is five seconds. Stop auto-spin cancels an unfinished spin and ends the sequence.

Open dialogs pause the next spin. Close each result popup or turn Show result popup off to continue automatically. Finish or correct any setup field before resuming. Automatic play stops at a best-of target or the 2,000-pick round limit.

Escape or hiding the page stops further automatic spins while the current spin finishes. Reloading also stops the sequence. Start it again explicitly when needed.

Yes or No wheel questions

Is the Yes or No wheel 50/50?

With default or Equal chances settings, Yes and No each have a 50% chance. An equal Maybe setup gives each of the three answers one chance in three. Weighting can change the current percentages, so check those fields before assuming the wheel is 50/50.

How do I set 70% Yes, 10% No and 20% Maybe?

Enable Maybe, open Weighting, set Yes to 70 and finish the edit, then set No to 10. Maybe adjusts to 20 while Yes stays at 70. Editing Maybe instead holds Yes and adjusts No. Changing Yes re-splits the other two equally.

Can an answer have a 0% chance?

Yes. It stays in the controls and score but has no slice and cannot be selected. At 100%, one answer is the only possible pick. Equal chances restores an equal split across the enabled answers.

Do more slices change the result?

Sets repeats the answers around the wheel without changing their overall chances. At nonzero default chances, six sets gives twelve binary slices or eighteen with Maybe. Zero-chance answers are omitted from the circle, so there can be fewer visible slices.

Why did I get Yes several times in a row?

Each spin is an independent random choice. Repeats and uneven short runs are possible even with equal chances. A previous Yes does not make No more likely next.

Does the wheel understand my question?

No. The question is a label saved with the round. It does not affect the draw or ask an AI service for an answer.

Can I use words instead of Yes and No?

Turn on Alternative answers to replace Yes and No, plus Maybe when enabled. Enter different labels of up to 80 characters each. The first two positions score in a best-of round; the Maybe position stays neutral even when renamed. Use the Names wheel for a longer list of custom choices.

Does Maybe count in a best-of round?

The Maybe position is counted and recorded but adds no point to either scoring answer, even if you rename it. A best-of round can therefore need extra spins before a scoring answer reaches its target.

How many picks win Best of 3, 5 or 7?

Best of 3 needs 2 points, Best of 5 needs 3 and Best of 7 needs 4. The round stops as soon as one scoring answer reaches that target. Undoing its deciding pick reopens the round.

What happens when I change the question?

Press Enter or leave the question field to save a valid edit. After a pick, a different question moves the original round to Previous rounds and starts at zero. The notice confirms the change. Undo restores the prior setup and round.

Can I change Sets without losing the score?

Yes. Change Sets alone and press Enter or leave the field. The question, percentages, score and results stay. A change to question, enabled answers, answer wording, play rule or probabilities starts a new round after picks and retains the old record. Colors and other appearance settings keep the round.

How much history stays in Previous rounds?

Up to ten previous rounds stay with their own question, rules and full counts. Each retains its latest 100 results. Starting another nonempty round beyond the archive limit removes the oldest one. Download a backup to keep a record elsewhere.

Can I spin without sound?

Use the visible mute control or turn off Enable sound in Customize. The answer and score still work. Reduced motion is a separate setting.

Does a slower or longer spin change the odds?

No. Spin speed and duration change the animation. The random slice is selected before it starts, and the pointer and final answer follow that selection.

Can I save the question and score?

The working wheel saves automatically in this browser. Save creates or replaces a separate named copy of the setup and retained round record. Save again to update that copy. Download includes the record and uploaded media. Share link includes the question and fresh setup, without private history.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed. Working state and named saves are local to this browser. A downloaded wheel file can be imported on another device. A share link opens the question and a fresh setup on another device without the saved round or uploaded media.
